What is the difference in sound between 2 reed and 3 reed accordions-
Two reed accordions are a "Dry" sound, usually used in Norteno , Tejano , Conjunto , Rock, Folk, Polka, Blues, Jazz Styles etc...
Three reed accordions produce a "Wet" sound. The tonality of the reeds seperate the sound, as there is one more set of reeds. The sound is more dissonant, wetter. Specifically, the El Rey Del Vallenato and Corona III have more Musette, the sound is fatter, exactly suited for Cumbia, Merengue and especially Vallenato music. Don't let that limit you however - You'll see the sound of the 3 reed button accordion integrated into broader styles of music in the future.
