For nearly a century, the world's top musicians have revered the distinctive sound of Hohner piano accordions. The Hohner sound, for which the company's accordions are famous, originates from the responsive, precisely tuned Hohner reed and the resonant construction of the woodwork. Shortly after the company started manufacturing accordions, this unique sound catapulted the Hohner accordion to the top of the international market, where it continues to be the world's leading brand.
Hohner's former chief designing engineer Venanzio Morino started making instruments according to his own vision in 1936. Frequently they were customized for the artists, so the Morino legacy lives on in the series which bears his name.
The Hohner Morino IV de Luxe model features H II reed plates (for fine dynamic nuances for tutti as well as single voice playing), wood casing and wood keys for a natural and comfortable feel.
The tone chamber is inseparably associated with the Morino. It is an additional resonance chamber in the keyboard, which amplifies warm bass and mid range frequencies while simultaneously reducing shrill overtones. Its unique sound has always been the Morino's trademark.
The wooden core keyboard found in all Morinos features almost frictionless guide elements and is a true engineering feat. It not only ensures that each key has an exceptionally easy and precise action, but also reduces wear.
The Morino reeds are the highest quality we have seen and are hand finished, one at a time, by Hohner's master craftsmen in Germany. The bass blocks on this model are set at an optimum angle for quicker response.
