Dirk Powell Learn To Play Cajun Accordion - Vol. 2
Dirk Powell is one of the most important traditional musicians in the United States today. He is highly accomplished in Appalation fiddle and banjo styles as well as Cajun accordion, which he plays withBalfa Toujours, a band that's carrying on the Cajun traditions of Dirks legendary father-in-law, Dewey Balfa. Dirk won first place at the annual Mulate's Accordion Contest in 1994 and has tought Cajun accordion across the U.S. and throughout Europe. He has recorded on more than twenty albums and has worked on numerous film soundtracks, including "Cold Mountain", "Bamboozled" and "Ride with the Devil". Rounder Records has released three of Dirk's solo albums including Time Again in 2004.

Players with electric or more modern bands will want to know how to anticipate the bellows changes, resolve phrases with triplets, switch to the upper and lower octaves, use the bellows to get rhythmic effects and employ many more techniques to get the hot Cajun sound.
